Democrats have once again shown their true colors—prioritizing illegal immigrants over law-abiding citizens. A group of Democratic lawmakers, led by Maryland’s own Chris Van Hollen, recently took an all-too-familiar trip to foreign soil, this time to El Salvador, advocating for the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. This man isn’t just a random MS-13 gang member; he was deported by the Trump administration for good reason. Yet, here we have U.S. representatives traveling halfway across the globe, attempting to bring him back.
This gaggle of political figures included the likes of Maxine Dexter from Oregon and Robert Garcia from California. They argued that Garcia’s deportation is a “constitutional crisis” without a hint of irony. These politicians are pleading for a man with a violent criminal history, arguing they’re standing up for justice. But in reality, they’re only undermining American safety and sovereignty. It’s absurd that these supposed leaders refuse to stand for citizens living in fear of gang violence right at home, but are eager to gallivant around advocating for a known criminal.

They invoke the Supreme Court’s name as if that absolves them of all responsibility for putting American families at risk. The same Democrats who cry about U.S. detention centers are somehow unbothered by the havoc those like Garcia wreak upon cities like Baltimore. Instead, U.S. representatives throw around phrases like “due process” to justify their dangerous ideology. They seem to forget—or rather, choose to ignore—real victims who suffer due to their policies.
And let’s talk about the taxpayer dollars destined for this globalist folly. These Dems had the audacity to even request congressional funds and security for their trip. Thankfully, this request was denied. Yet, they had no problem attempting to guilt American taxpayers into their misguided crusade, which does nothing but weaken the safety net meant for actual law-abiding citizens.
This stunt is just another by Democrats to slap true American interests in the face, capitalizing on emotional manipulation rather than facing facts. They openly flout the principles that keep our nation secure. Why should American citizens continue to place their trust—or their votes—in this kind of leadership? Kiddingly or not, one must ask: When did protecting criminals become the Democrats’ priority?
