Democrats in the Minnesota House of Representatives are at it again, trying to expand absentee ballot laws to benefit themselves in the next presidential election. They have introduced a bill, HF 3447, which would require temporary voting locations on college and university campuses. State Representative Kristi Pursell claims this bill will “remove barriers to participation,” but let’s be real here, Minnesota already has laws that provide ample opportunities and time for residents to vote.

Pursell argues that some campuses don’t have election-day polling places, causing a disparity in voter turnout. But why should we be wasting taxpayer money on setting up additional polling places when students already have the right to vote? Minnesota Republican Rep. Ben Davis pointed out that eligible college students can already vote and have a month and a half to cast their ballots. Yet, Democrats want to burden counties with the cost of setting up these polling places.
Not only is this bill fiscally irresponsible, but it also shows the Democrats’ bias against conservative voters. Republican Rep. Pam Altendorf rightly raises concerns that the bill excludes smaller institutions, which are typically more conservative. It seems like the Democrats are hand-picking which voters they want to drive to the polls. This is an outrageous overreach that undermines the principles of fair and equal voting rights for ALL citizens.
Even the Minnesota Association of County Officers (MACO) opposes this bill. They are concerned about the mandated polling places, which would increase the burden on county auditors. MACO argues that the current permissive language authorizing absentee and early voting polling places is sufficient. But Democrats don’t seem to care about the concerns of county officers or conservative voters. They are pushing this bill forward on a party-line voice vote, showing their complete disregard for fair representation.
It’s no surprise that these efforts to expand absentee voting come from the same party that manipulated election laws in 2020. The Daily Caller’s documentary, ‘Rigged: Death of the American Voter,’ exposes how Democrats were able to unilaterally change election laws, leading to widespread irregularities. We cannot allow them to continue playing fast and loose with our democratic processes.
It’s time to stand up against these blatant attempts to tilt the playing field in favor of Democrats. We must protect the integrity of our elections and ensure that every vote is cast legally and fairly. Otherwise, we risk losing the very foundation of our democracy. Let’s hold Democrats accountable and reject their partisan agenda.
