Hegseth has been tasked with bringing a “warrior culture” back to the Department of Defense, aiming to restore focus and meritocracy rather than getting lost in the quagmire of personal attacks. The theatrics exhibited during the hearings seemed to miss the mark entirely, illustrating a clear divide between a call for change and the status quo of political bickering. Perhaps the best takeaway from this long-winded saga is that whether one leans left, right, or somewhere in between, civility and respect should ideally reign supreme on Capitol Hill. After all, the American people deserve better than a glorified shouting match.
