According to DeSantis, the “secret sauce” to Florida’s success is essentially observing California, Illinois, and New York and doing the complete opposite. This opposite approach seems to align with the concept of less government interference and more accountability, principles that resonate well in conservative circles. DeSantis proudly argues that by not allowing issues such as homelessness to overwhelm major cities and by ensuring state policies do not incentivize illegal immigration, Florida has maintained a thriving, orderly society.

Now, he claims, it’s places like Florida where people seek opportunity, following the sunshine and, of course, sensible governance.
As the conversation shifts to gerrymandering, DeSantis illustrates his commitment to fair representation. Florida’s growth, he argues, warrants more congressional seats, an assertion that’s directed at the federal administration. There’s also anticipation around a Supreme Court decision that could impact how districts are drawn across states, potentially opening up a new chapter in political cartography. In the end, DeSantis’ plan is clear: continue expanding Florida’s influence while dismantling outdated, divisive policies elsewhere.
