DHS Slams “Activist Judges” for Overstepping Authority

In a delightfully ironic twist of fate, it seems some activist judges have discovered that “no one is above the law” is more than just a catchy slogan. This week, two liberal judges found themselves in hot water after allegedly offering cozy accommodations to some illegal migrants, effectively turning their courtrooms into unexpected safe havens from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This development has prompted the Department of Homeland Security to warn those in black robes against playing hide-and-seek with the legal boundaries.

When it comes to interpreting laws, these judges decided that interpreting meant innovating. It seems their version of the law leaned more towards sanctuary cities’ policies rather than the actual statutes in the books. This has sparked quite the hullabaloo, raising the question of why these judges, sworn to uphold justice, should be playing a game of political tug-of-war. Rookie mistake, really, not knowing the difference between passing sentences and passing the buck.

Now, it’s not like this is the first time this kind of courtroom creativity has happened. There was a case back in 2018 where a Massachusetts judge got herself in a pickle for allegedly letting an illegal immigrant sneak out the back door, bypassing ICE. Seems like these judges got their definition of “serving justice” a tad muddied. Perhaps they thought “justice is blind” as in closing both eyes and hoping for the best?

But hold onto your gavels, because while some judges are busy being activists, a curious expedition of Democrats has set sail for El Salvador. Their mission? To defend none other than an MS-13 gang member. Yes, because when you’re tasked with protecting America’s democracy, naturally, the first thing on your checklist is ensuring due process for notorious gang affiliates abroad. They argue that championing this cause is crucial for the future of democracy. It seems there’s been a bit of a mix-up between “defending democracy” and “defending individuals with questionable résumés.”

One can’t help but wonder if these Democrats have their priorities straight. While they trot the globe for gang member rights, the safety of countless Americans back home seems to take a back seat. In case they missed the memo, the role of elected officials is typically to protect their constituents, not form alliances with those who potentially pose a danger. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see some focus redirected towards ensuring the safety of citizens instead of prioritizing those with rap sheets longer than a CVS receipt?

So here we are with a plot thicker than a courtroom drama. Activist judges and lawmakers whose compass seems magnetized in a different direction than most Americans would prefer. The time has come for introspection—perhaps a day in civics class wouldn’t hurt. At the end of the day, it would be splendid if these well-meaning guardians of justice could remember which side of the law they’re supposed to be palling around with.
