Elon Musk has become the embodiment of efficiency, and it seems the Department of Education has provided him with plenty of low-hanging fruit to snatch up. Following President Donald Trump’s prediction that Musk would uncover rampant mismanagement within the education bureaucracy, it looks like Trump was spot on—because nearly $1 billion in waste has just been wiped away.
The aptly named Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE for short, has stepped up to the plate, announcing the termination of 29 grants dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. This decision is not just a drop in the bucket; it’s a whopping $101 million cut from programs that, quite frankly, smell like overreaching liberal nonsense. One of the grants allegedly set out to train teachers in spreading the gospel of oppression and privilege, which is about as useful as a chocolate teapot in the classroom.
🚨🇺🇸DOGE SLASHES $982M IN WASTE—EDUCATION BUREAUCRATS PANIC
Elon’s DOGE just saved taxpayers $982 million by cutting wasteful spending in the Department of Education.

Musk himself highlighted this fiscal insanity on his X account, pointing out the tax dollars that have been flowing into these absurd expenditures. Apparently, teaching kids to nose around their own privilege is all the rage—who knew “introspection” became a mandatory subject? Instead of focusing on academic rigor, we’re grooming students to reflect on their hypothetical oppression levels. What could possibly go wrong?
But it doesn’t stop there. The DOGE has further flexed its muscle by announcing the cancellation of 89 additional contracts from the Department of Education, bringing the total savings to an impressive $881 million. One amusing example of waste: a contractor was paid $1.5 million to merely “observe mailing and clerical operations.” This raises a crucial question—do they need a degree in watching mail from a clown college?
Supporters of the cuts, like Nicki Neily from Parents Defending Education, have hailed the end of these futile programs. Neily emphasizes that DEI has been less about fairness and more about imposing a woke agenda that ramrods ideological conformity down everybody’s throat. She argues that shutting down these ineffective programs is beneficial for students, urging other states to hop on the efficiency train while they’re at it.
Even Congress is getting in on the action, with the House Committee on Education and Workforce stating these DEI programs were a colossal mistake from the get-go. Instead of an education focused on innovation and critical thinking, students have been subjected to a narrative that categorizes everyone as either oppressor or oppressed—a far cry from preparing young minds for the real world. President Trump has made it clear his administration views these programs as an extravagant waste of public resources, effectively labeling them as discriminatory. It seems that at the very least, the Department of Education is learning a valuable lesson about financial accountability, courtesy of Elon Musk and President Trump.
