Kelly Clarkson, the sensational singer, recently revealed some shocking details about her stint on the hit TV show “The Voice.” Last year, she told a California labor commissioner that her then-husband, Brandon Blackstock, had the audacity to tell her she wasn’t sexy enough to be a coach on the show and that NBC execs were after someone with more sex appeal, like Rihanna.

Not only did Blackstock allegedly diss her sex appeal, but he also claimed that NBC “had to have someone that was black” and that both Kelly and fellow coach Blake Shelton were “too similar.” This is outrageous! Thankfully, the labor commissioner ruled in favor of Clarkson, ordering Blackstock to fork over $2.6 million for unlawfully securing deals that should have been handled by her talent agents.
Before things fell apart, Blackstock put the pressure on NBC execs in 2017, informing them that Clarkson was considering a gig with their rival show, “American Idol.” Supposedly, after some back and forth, NBC made Clarkson a multimillion-dollar offer to finally join “The Voice.” Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, it’s reported that NBC’s former entertainment chairman, Paul Telegdy, engaged in some sketchy behavior and even asked Blackstock, “What would it take [to sign Clarkson to ‘The Voice’]?”
Cat Carson, a veteran agent, testified that she repeatedly asked to be involved in negotiating Clarkson’s “The Voice” contract, but Blackstock shut her out. The nerve! Can you believe this guy? And as if that wasn’t enough, Clarkson revealed that she didn’t even know about the offer from “The Voice” until after Blackstock had already sealed the deal himself.
The labor commissioner saw through all of Blackstock’s shadiness and ruled that he overcharged Clarkson by a whopping $2.6 million. Who knew divorce drama could be this wild? With Blackstock filing an appeal, it looks like this sensational saga is far from over.
