Tens of thousands of activists are gearing up to swarm the Democratic National Convention, armed with grievances that would make even the most seasoned protester raise an eyebrow. Their target? The Vice President herself, Kamala Harris. These activists are not just there for a friendly debate; they aim to hold Harris accountable for what they perceive as the Biden administration’s mishandling of the situation in Gaza. Apparently, pointing fingers and shouting “genocide” at Israel is the new national pastime for the left.

It almost seems like they want the Vice President to don a cape and rescind Israel’s right to defend itself, waving her magic wand while simultaneously arguing that her party truly supports human rights. The irony is palpable. Here is a group desperate to impose accountability, yet they are hardly ever consistent in their demands. As they rally about the plight of Palestinians—whom they claim are victims of the U.S.-backed Israeli machine—they appear to give a free pass to the real victims of terrorism on all sides. The silence surrounding Hamas’s repeated aggressions against Israel is deafening, and yet these activists won’t be chanting about their accountability anytime soon.
As the convention approaches, one has to wonder what impact this backlash will have on Harris and the party going into the election cycle. The Democrats are already painted into a tight corner, trying to balance their hard-left activists with those who still believe in traditional values. If Harris is looking for a way to make everyone happy, she might have to employ a strategy equal parts acrobatics and diplomacy. One thing is for sure: it won’t be an easy task when a crowd of fervent activists is barking at her heels, eager to hold her accountable for her own party’s obvious contradictions.
