FBI Director Wray Fuels Leftist Conspiracy Theories on Trump Assassination Attempt

The left’s swift dismissal of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump serves as a reminder of how far removed some commentators are from reality. Following the shocking incident on July 13, a chorus of left-leaning voices online went on the offensive, suggesting that the attempt was merely a staged event. Notably, MSNBC’s Joy Reid and former RNC chair Michael Steele sought to promote an utterly debunked conspiracy theory, claiming that a shard of glass, not a bullet, was responsible for the injury to Trump’s ear. Leftist fact-checkers have wasted no time in trying to muddy the waters, with Snopes hilariously asserting that without a broken teleprompter, the glass narrative doesn’t hold water. Perhaps the most compelling evidence came from the New York Times, which managed to capture the actual bullet flying towards Trump’s head in a photograph.

But the real shocker was that FBI Director Christopher Wray, who one would hope would possess at least a modicum of professionalism in such matters, also flirted with this absurd theory during his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. He suggested not once, but twice, that it might not have been a bullet that grazed Trump’s ear, casting doubt on an event that everyone with brain cells could agree was a dire situation.

In a true display of poor judgment, Wray substituted facts for speculation, implying that shrapnel may have caused Trump’s injury. This spurred a well-deserved backlash, with Trump himself taking to Truth Social to rebuke his appointee. The ex-president expressed his disbelief that Wray was uncertain about whether Trump had suffered a bullet wound or merely dealt with some glassy mischief. Trump took particular aim at Wray’s oversight, noting that the FBI didn’t even bother to investigate the incident properly.

House Speaker Mike Johnson joined the fray, emphatically stating that the evidence of a bullet striking Trump was clear and consistent from various angles and analyses. Johnson’s remarks were not so much a defense of Trump but rather a dose of reality for those still willing to play doctor with the facts. Not surprisingly, Rep. Ronny Jackson, a physician who knows a thing or two about wounds, vehemently criticized Wray’s comments as irresponsible and politically motivated, reinforcing the notion that the FBI has strayed further away from credibility under his watch.

Even the Trump campaign spokesman had to weigh in, labeling anyone who clung to this glass or shrapnel nonsense as wholly either mentally impaired or consciously promoting falsehoods for political gain. As the left continues to grapple with the implications of their own narratives, they have unwittingly highlighted a glaring truth: the attempts to undermine Trump’s testament are so flimsy they deserve a spot in the comic relief section of a failing late-night show.
