This Halloween could have taken a ghastly turn if not for the unsung heroes of our nation: the FBI. What is shocking is how close we were to a potential bloodbath right in the heart of Detroit. This isn’t the plot of a horror film; it’s an actual crisis averted by diligent law enforcement. Two individuals, reportedly radicalized by dangerous ideologies, had plotted an ISIS-inspired terror attack, cleverly codenaming it “Pumpkin.” Their mission? Sow chaos and catastrophe on a night already steeped in darkness.
Twenty-year-olds with a deadly arsenal—dozens of guns, hundreds of rounds of ammo—were ready to unleash terror. Thankfully, their sinister plans were intercepted in a timely fashion. Imagine the horrors that might have unfolded in the streets of Michigan, especially in areas where diverse communities, including those with prominent LGBTQ nightlife, could have been targets. The FBI didn’t just join the dots; they beat the radicals at their own game.

But as usual, there’s a troubling reluctance on the left to call out what this is: a fight against radical Islamist terror. There’s an inexplicable shyness to acknowledge the problem for what it is. Political correctness can’t save lives. Action does. When will they learn that turning a blind eye to extremist threats doesn’t make them go away?
And while the FBI deserves credit for protecting American lives, we can’t help but wonder: would this vigilance be as sharp in a less security-conscious administration? With rumors always swirling about bureaucrats weaponizing their agencies against political enemies, it’s imperative to applaud when they get it right. They did just that—and it’s a win for every American who values freedom over fear.
Isn’t it time our leaders recognize the blatant threats in our backyards instead of blaming imaginary monsters? How many more terror plots need foiling before they take a stand? When the chips are down, it’s the courageous few who leap into action and keep us safe. Patriots recognize patriots. And the FBI gets a rare salute for taking bold action—something a lot of politicians could learn from.
