They suspect that district abortionist Cesare Santangelo of the Washington Surgi-Clinic may have performed illegal partial-birth abortions.
In the eyes of these defenders of justice, the grisly practice of partial-birth abortion is akin to premeditated murder. It entails delivering a live baby before gruesomely ending its life, a gruesome act barred by the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003, a law upheld by the Supreme Court. The gripping narrative has prompted comparisons between Santangelo and convicted serial killer abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who terrorized his Philadelphia clinic.
