GOP Lawmakers Slam Pentagon for Pushing DEI Indoctrination in Military Schools

The Biden-Harris administration has taken a potent blend of political correctness and radical ideology to a new level by pushing the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI) agenda into everything from government initiatives to classrooms filled with children of military service members. Republican members of Congress have found themselves quite riled up over the apparent leftist brainwashing taking place at Department of Defense-run schools. It seems the Pentagon is not just equipping our troops for battle, but also arming their children with a curriculum filled to the brim with indoctrination.

A recent report from the OpenTheBooks watchdog group unearthed a disturbing trend involving the Pentagon’s K-12 public schools, which cater to about 66,000 children around the world. This report claimed that the so-called DEI specialists, initially ousted by the DoDEA, have stealthily infiltrated other departments within the Department of Defense Education Activity. Despite assurances of change after being criticized for their extreme teaching methods, the apparent deep state of DEI teaching remains firmly entrenched. The once-disbanded DEI office had simply taken on another guise, continuing its mission to instill leftist values in unsuspecting military families.

In response to this alarming trend, a handful of Republican lawmakers, led by Elise Stefanik and Jim Banks, sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, laying out their concerns. They highlighted the continued indoctrination of military children with dubious ideas about gender, race, and culture—even after the Pentagon promised to resolve these issues. The lawmakers accused the Department of Education of hiding behind the disbanding of the DEI office as a smokescreen, all the while embedding those pesky DEI proponents into the fabric of the DoDEA.

The GOP’s letter didn’t hold back, labeling the use of racially charged texts in the classroom as “blatantly racist” and drastically outside the purpose of a military education, which should be to foster patriotism and unity rather than division. The lawmakers lamented the unnecessary task of reminding educators that their job is to teach, not to sway young minds with radical ideologies that could lead to a rejection of American values. According to them, this agenda not only disrespects military families but also poses a threat to recruitment and retention within the armed forces, not to mention the operational readiness of the military itself.

Not content with merely signing letters, Stefanik and Banks made bold statements to hammer home their point. They asserted that while service members are risking their lives to defend freedom, their children are being taught that their homeland is not worth defending. It’s a shocking reality that calls into question the quality of education provided at these military schools. In a world where parents want to shield their kids from extremist ideologies, the pushback against the DEI movement within the military education system raises significant concerns about the direction in which the nation is heading—one where ideological indoctrination could overshadow genuine educational values.
