Gov. Blasts Liberals for Blaming Trump in DC Attack Debate

In the world of politics, it’s often hard to tell where genuine concern for public safety ends and ruthless blame games begin. That’s exactly what seems to be happening with the current hullabaloo surrounding West Virginia’s National Guard troops stationed in Washington, D.C. Rather than acknowledging the dedicated service of these brave individuals, some folks on the left would rather point fingers and concoct wild accusations—everything short of claiming that the guardsmen are responsible for global warming, one expects.

Amidst the chaos, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey stands out as a voice of reason. At the heart of the issue is the condition of Andrew Wolf, a member of the National Guard currently fighting for his life. The governor has been right there with the Wolf family, offering them his prayers and support. They believe in the power of prayer and hope that it will lift Andrew back to health. He is a beloved member of their community, and everyone in West Virginia is rooting for him.

Yet, instead of rallying together for this hero, some on the left have decided it’s more important to use this as an opportunity to criticize President Trump. They say that the National Guard should not have been stationed in the capital to begin with, questioning the very motives behind ensuring the safety of the nation’s capital. News alert: that’s exactly what the Guard is supposed to do–protect communities and decrease crime. Which, by the way, is precisely what’s happening in D.C. These Guardsmen have volunteered to protect others, and they’re not doing it for the praise. They’re doing it because it’s their duty and mission to safeguard their nation and people.

It’s both baffling and downright disappointing to see opposition members ignore the obvious benefits of having the National Guard present where crime rates have seen a dip, only to advance their agenda. They go so far as to suggest that ensuring a safe environment in D.C. is a political move rather than a public necessity. Maybe someone should remind them that protecting people is what good governance is all about—just a crazy thought!

Instead of using this moment to come together and honor the service of these troops, critics have chosen this moment to continue their never-ending attacks against anything and anyone related to law enforcement. From the misguided “defund the police” movement to aiming accusations at the National Guard, they seem to have a knack for targeting the very people who make sure they can sleep soundly at night. Again, a reminder that crime reduction doesn’t just happen by wishing upon a star. Here’s hoping a little common sense eventually steps into the spotlight, relieving the stage of this drama.

So, yes, prayers and support are underway for Andrew Wolf and his family. It’s time for more folks to recognize the heroism of guardsmen like him and the vital role they play in keeping us safe, rather than indulging in this tiresome blame game against deployers of law and order.
