A recent non-handshake moment at a Senate swearing-in ceremony has become the latest target for politically motivated speculation. The subject of the incident was Bruce Fischer, the husband of Republican Senator Deb Fischer from Nebraska, who appeared to carefully avoid making eye contact or shaking hands with Vice President Kamala Harris. While the social media sleuths have jumped to conclusions, one has to wonder just how far one’s imagination can stretch, and it seems the liberal media narrative is busily at work.
The awkwardness had all the hallmarks of a Kamala Harris original. Several observers noted that Fischer’s cane and the couple’s established bond should have been a hint. It’s hard to imagine that a seasoned politician would overlook such basic cues, yet here we are.
What made the Reichstag of liberal media salivate even more was the sight of Bruce directing his attention to the ground rather than the much-talked-about Harris. Apparently, the vice president was not only snubbed but also left with a collection of heartbroken fans lamenting the apparent lack of eye contact. For most observers, the act of averting one’s gaze in the face of mobility issues hardly translates to a political statement, but that won’t stop the left from spinning it into a scandal.

It begs the question: Was Fischer really snubbing Harris or simply grappling with the realities of senior life? There’s a vast difference between political maneuvering and trying to avoid the embarrassment of a potential fall. This situation only highlights the unnecessary high drama that ensues when public figures become the subject of fantasy narratives crafted by the far-left.
In any case, the non-handshake is another reminder of Harris’s chronic inability to read the room or the people in front of her. As many have come to expect, when a lead-footed vice president makes an entrance, it is rarely without a healthy dose of awkwardness. Whether it’s a handshake or a genuine connection, Harris has once again showcased her talent for misreadings, leaving many wondering just how much longer the country has to endure these elementary faux pas.
