In a stunning display of acceptance, Harris’s team has decided to play by the rules set by ABC News for the upcoming presidential debate. But let’s be honest: the real winner here is the mute button.
The Harris campaign’s concession to mute the microphones when candidates aren’t speaking raises eyebrows. Their letter to ABC whined about how this rule creates a disadvantage for Harris, claiming it effectively shields Donald Trump from some good ol’ back-and-forth banter. One can’t help but wonder if their real concern is that when the mic is off, voters might be less tempted to listen to Harris’s usual drivel. After all, it’s difficult to make a strong case for competency when the spotlight isn’t on you.

After all, who doesn’t love a good showdown where one side is calibrated to keep the volume down on their opponent?
Meanwhile, Jason Miller, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, took a moment to point out how ridiculous it is that the Harris team is finally agreeing to rules they originally orchestrated. The irony would be laughable if it weren’t so tragic for the Democrats, who strut around like peacocks but seem terrified of engaging in an actual discussion that might expose their weaknesses. The disarray in their campaign strategy isn’t just concerning; it’s downright comical.
As the debate approaches, one can only imagine how this muted microphone strategy might play out on stage. While the Democrats seem bent on creating a cushy environment for their candidate—complete with protective rhetoric—Trump thrives in the chaos. Muffled voices might give Harris a modicum of safety, but it’s hard to imagine those are the conditions under which a formidable opponent like Trump is going to be intimidated.
