In a nation where liberal elites often pontificate about the virtues of gun-free zones and progressive policies, Harvard Square—at the very heart of America’s ivory tower—provided a frightening glimpse into the chaos such endeavors can unleash. This past weekend, the area, known for its supposed “unique” atmosphere, descended into fear and confusion as gunshots rang out, reminding us that incidents like these are not isolated to the underprivileged areas often plagued by crime.
Guess what? Despite being in the shadows of a liberal stronghold, this gunfire incident was reportedly a targeted assault. What does this mean for the so-called progressive haven? An unchecked culture of violence can seep into any corner of America, even those covered by the protective blanket of academia. The false security offered by liberal policies that tend to disarm good citizens while criminals continue their rampage must be scrutinized.

What a travesty it is that a tourist had to experience firsthand the chaos that comes with helplessly running from a shooter in a gun-free zone. What does this say about our policies? While the progressive narrative continuously seeks to dismantle the Second Amendment, those terrified advocates find themselves helpless and vulnerable, often at the hands of those who flagrantly disregard the very laws meant to protect us.

As liberal cities and campuses across the nation push hard for their agendas, they seem to forget a simple truth: criminals don’t care about laws. When do progressives wake up to this?
