In a heroic move to save the American auto industry from the jaws of electric vehicle (EV) tyranny, the Republican-led House of Representatives stood firm on Thursday and voted to put the brakes on the Biden Administration’s oppressive EV mandates. These mandates would have forced a staggering 67 percent of all new vehicles to be electric by 2032. Thankfully, some sensible Democrats saw the light and crossed party lines to join their Republican colleagues in passing this important measure.

Representative Tim Walberg, a true champion of choice and innovation, eloquently stated, “While EVs may play a large role in the future of the auto industry, Washington should not discount other technologies like hydrogen, hybrids, and the internal combustion engine.” It’s about time someone in Washington acknowledged that we need to foster a diverse marketplace that allows for multiple technological advancements, not just one-size-fits-all mandates that stifle competition and limit consumer choice.
Of course, President Biden is predictably throwing a temper tantrum, threatening to veto the legislation and claiming it would “catastrophically impair” the EPA’s ability to regulate the auto industry. But let’s be honest, folks. We all know that the EPA has a notorious history of overreach and stifling unnecessary regulations, so anything that curtails their power is a win for the American people.
In defense of their proposed EV standards, the EPA has made grandiose claims that these regulations would reduce carbon emissions by a whopping 56 percent by 2032. But come on, let’s take a moment to inject a dose of reality here. Automakers themselves have voiced concerns about the profitability of EVs and the lack of necessary infrastructure to support widespread adoption. It’s simple economics: if there’s no demand or profitability, why force it upon the industry?
To add insult to injury, President Biden has also signed executive orders vowing to convert the entire federal vehicle fleet to electric by 2035. This is nothing short of a power grab, folks. By imposing his personal preference for EVs on the American people, Biden is disregarding the economic impact, the individual preferences of hardworking Americans, and the potential risks associated with relying solely on one technology.
Thankfully, former President Donald Trump has promised to undo Biden’s executive orders if given a second term. Now, there’s a leader who understands the importance of balancing technology advancements while protecting individual freedoms and the American economy. Let’s pray that we can once again have a president who puts America first and doesn’t succumb to the whims of radical environmentalists and the socialist agenda sweeping the left.
