Hogan Questions Biden’s Fitness for Presidency Amid Campaign

Maryland is getting a political shake-up as Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan has a few choice words about President Joe Biden’s ability to lead the nation. In what can only be described as a comedic yet sobering observation, Hogan suggested Biden needs to step down from his re-election bid due to concerns over his mental sharpness. It appears Hogan doesn’t believe the President’s 81-year-old mind is still fit to command the free world.

Hogan, the pragmatic former two-term GOP governor, spilled the tea to the Washington Examiner during a campaign pitstop with veterans. He reminisced about Biden being a lot sharper back in the day and ranted about how the current political wildfire around Biden’s mental capacity is a legitimate concern. Hogan respectfully intoned that for Biden’s health, his family’s well-being, the Democratic Party, and mostly for the sake of the country, it might be best to pass the torch.

Larry made it crystal clear that he has no intention of casting a vote for Donald Trump, his long-time frenemy, come election day. Instead, Hogan is all about unity, promising to work with whoever the electoral gods deliver. Still, he’s deeply skeptical about whether Biden, poised to be 86 by the end of a potential second term, can handle another four years at the helm. The recent debate debacle, in which Biden was channeled as a fumbling shadow of his former self, isn’t doing the President any favors in Hogan’s book.

On the campaign trail himself, Hogan’s running in deep-blue Maryland against Democratic candidate Angela Alsobrooks, and this race could be the swing factor in party control of the Senate. Hogan is working hard to gather support from centrist Democrats and independents, alongside Republicans, and aims to paint Maryland red for the first time in four decades.

Angela Alsobrooks is fiercely loyal to Biden, although she’s been cozying up to Kamala Harris as Biden’s future seems increasingly shaky. Biden’s latest debate performance has sent shockwaves through the Democratic Party. Democratic leaders, both publicly and behind closed doors, are making frantic moves to slide Biden off the top of the ticket to avoid a Trump showdown.

Joe Biden tried to brush off the criticisms, defending his cognitive health in an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt. Admitting he’s old but only three years older than Trump, Biden bragged about his accomplishments and insisted on being judged by his track record. But with growing discord within his own camp, it seems like even the Democrats aren’t buying what Grandpa Joe is selling anymore.
