The House of Representatives recently gifted American families a glimmer of common sense by passing a bill that bans transgender student athletes from competing in women’s sports, winning the approval of 218 Republicans and a token two Democrats standing in support of this no-brainer legislation. Rep. Greg Steube from Florida spearheaded this initiative, aptly dubbed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025. It’s a great step toward protecting the integrity of women’s sports, something that should be a no-brainer in the land of the free.
Despite the overwhelming approval from the House, leftist activists are voicing their discontent. More than 400 LGBTQ and civil rights organizations have united in a bid to derail this legislation, claiming it undermines the civil rights of transgender students. However, these activists seem to forget that women’s sports were created to provide females with equal opportunities, and allowing biological males to compete against them is a slam dunk for inequality—not inclusion. It seems the left gets lost in its own ethos when it sidesteps basic biology to push an agenda.
Members of the Republican majority wasted no time calling out Senate Democrats for their previous evasions on the issue when it was first introduced. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise declared that the Republicans would stand firm in their convictions, regardless of how Senate Democrats might choose to act. This unwavering stance is a breath of fresh air in a political climate that has become far too murky in recent years.

House Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana announced that the legislative train isn’t stopping here. Appearing poised to tackle even more pressing issues, he highlighted that the House would soon take up Rep. Nancy Mace’s bill aimed at deporting illegal immigrants who sexually abuse women. Imagine that—addressing real threats to American women while simultaneously working to keep women’s sports safe from unfair competition. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone.
As Democrats failed to cast their votes in favor of common-sense protections for women, it’s clear they are missing the mark on what the average American family cares about. More than 200 Democrats previously voted to allow biological males to compete in female-only sports, but now, with a new Republican majority, there’s a renewed focus on righting those wrongs. The battle for fairness in athletics reveals that while the Democrats may be out of touch, the Republican Party is making strides to ensure that women and girls have the opportunities they deserve on the field, not just in the classroom.
