President Biden has revealed Israel’s terms for a three-part plan to bring a lasting ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and secure the release of all hostages held in Gaza. During a speech at the White House, Biden urged Hamas to accept the proposal, emphasizing the need for peace and stability in the region. The first phase of the plan involves a six-week ceasefire, followed by the exchange of all remaining hostages and the withdrawal of Israel from Gaza in the second phase. The third phase focuses on the reconstruction of Gaza, with the United States pledging to work with its allies to rebuild homes, schools, and hospitals that were damaged during the conflict.
While President Biden made this announcement, the Israel Defense Forces made progress in southern Gaza, reaching central Rafah. The White House has also voiced strong support for Israel, standing by the country’s actions following an airstrike that targeted a Hamas encampment in Rafah. The strike resulted in the deaths of 45 Palestinians and two senior Hamas militants.
