Hunter Biden Defense Points Finger at Hallie Biden in Firearm Case

In the opening statements on Tuesday, the lawyers representing Hunter Biden made it clear that they intended to shift the blame for Hunter’s actions onto Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter’s brother, Beau. According to reports, Hunter’s lead defense attorney pointed towards Hallie as the one responsible for the firearm Hunter purchased in 2018.

The Justice Department has accused Hunter of falsely claiming on a federal form that he was not using drugs at the time of the firearm purchase, despite being addicted to alcohol and crack cocaine. The defense is emphasizing that Hallie, not Hunter, disposed of the firearm in an irresponsible manner, leaving it in a location where anyone could find and take it. Furthermore, Hunter’s legal team highlighted that Hallie is set to testify and has been granted immunity. The firearm was eventually discovered by another individual, who then reported it to the police.

The trial is expected to involve testimony from other members of the Biden family, including Hunter’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, who is on the prosecution’s witness list. Additionally, President Joe Biden’s brother James Biden and Buhle’s daughter Naomi Biden may also be called as defense witnesses. The trial is poised to become a familial dispute, with both sides represented by members of the Biden family.

The DOJ has also entered the infamous “Hunter Biden laptop” into evidence in the case. Hunter Biden is currently facing three federal charges related to the firearm purchase, with a maximum sentence of 25 years, although it is noted that such a severe sentence is unlikely for a first-time offender.

Prior to the start of the trial, President Biden released a statement in support of his son, expressing love and confidence in Hunter and emphasizing the family’s commitment to being there for him. The trial remains ongoing, with Hunter’s legal team seeking to shift accountability onto Hallie Biden in their defense strategy.
