President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has been found guilty in federal court on three felony counts related to possessing a gun while using drugs. The verdict was delivered after only a few hours of deliberation, with jurors concluding that Hunter had made false statements during a background check and on a form used for firearm transactions. In addition to the possibility of a 25-year prison sentence, Hunter could face $750,000 in fines and nine years of supervised release.
When asked about the verdict, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez disputed claims of a “two-tiered” system of justice, stating that Hunter’s conviction disproves this notion. She emphasized the respect for the judicial process and contrasted the reaction to Hunter Biden’s case with the celebration that followed former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in a separate trial involving 34 felony counts related to “hush money.”
