We should also be thanking the brave men and women of the Secret Service and local law enforcement who did their jobs under pressure and stopped a potential massacre before it began. Instead of cheap political gloating, every leader ought to demand thorough investigations, full transparency, and resources to keep protectees and the public safe.
The FBI and Secret Service have the scene under joint investigation and, as is standard, the involved agents have been placed on administrative review while facts are assembled; Americans deserve a full accounting and swift answers. The political class must stop playing games with public safety and make protecting Americans — and their elected leaders — a nonpartisan priority.
