Iran’s former president, known as the ‘Butcher of Tehran’ for his role in the mass murder of thousands of political prisoners, tragically died in a helicopter crash along with the country’s Foreign Minister over the weekend. Despite his brutal and oppressive leadership, various political figures and organizations around the world, including the European Union, NATO, and even the Biden administration, expressed condolences for his passing. This response sparked backlash, as many viewed the expressions of condolence as inappropriate given his history of violence and oppression.

In contrast, many Iranian victims of the regime openly celebrated the demise of the former president. Even in the United States Senate, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell directed condolences towards the people of Iran for their suffering under the oppressive rule of the Islamic Republic, highlighting the regime’s history of terrorist violence and internal repression.
Amidst the expressions of condolence, President Biden reaffirmed the United States’ support for Israel’s security, aligning with the stance of various Israeli leaders who criticized the International Criminal Court’s pursuit of arrest warrants against Israel’s Prime Minister for defending the country against terrorist aggression.
Additionally, concerns were raised about the Biden administration’s decision to abandon a country in Africa, risking America’s ability to combat Jihadists and leaving behind substantial military equipment. These actions have led to scrutiny and criticism of the administration’s foreign policy decisions.
Former State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus expressed concern over the administration’s approach to foreign affairs, questioning the defense of its abysmal record.
