In a recent update, Liz Wolfe from Reason isn’t holding back on her frustration with the IRS. She’s calling out the agency for what she calls its “lies” about their plans for the $80 billion in funding they received back in August 2022. According to Wolfe, the IRS promised that they would use that money to go after the big fish – the millionaires and billionaires who were dodging their tax obligations. Instead, Wolfe claims that the agency is focusing their audits on hardworking middle-class Americans.

It’s no surprise that conservatives like Wolfe are outraged by these allegations. They see it as yet another example of government overreach and the targeting of law-abiding citizens, all while letting the true tax evaders off the hook. It’s the classic case of big government coming down on the little guy, and it’s enough to make anyone’s blood boil.
Wolfe’s frustration is echoed by many others on the right, who feel that the IRS is overstepping its bounds and wasting taxpayer dollars in the process. They argue that instead of harassing everyday Americans, the agency should be focusing on streamlining its operations and targeting those who are actually breaking the law.
Whether or not these claims about the IRS audits hold water, one thing’s for sure – conservatives aren’t going to let this issue slide.
