JD Vance Heads to Border, Aims to Tie Harris to Immigration Chaos

J.D. Vance, the Republican vice presidential contender, is headed to the southern border this week, and it’s not just an ordinary visit. This trip to Cochise County, Arizona, is part of a strategic maneuver to link Vice President Kamala Harris to the ongoing disaster that illegal immigration has created over the last three years. This is a bold move, considering Harris has been smugly dubbed the Biden administration’s “border czar,” a title that carries a bit more weight now that the chaos at the border has become a laughable disaster.

During his visit, Vance plans to make it clear that Harris isn’t just sitting pretty in Washington while the border burns; she shares the blame for a string of high-profile crimes committed by illegal immigrants who came across the border under her watchful neglect. With just one pitiful trip to the border back in June 2021, it’s hard not to see Harris as the poster child for all that is wrong with the Biden administration’s handling of immigration—if that poster featured a nice big “Do Not Enter” sign.

Republicans are sharpening their knives as they prepare to turn the immigration issue into an effective weapon against the Democrats, particularly now that they can focus their fire on Harris directly. Touting the possibility that she could make the immigration situation even worse is a genius play, noting some of her more radical past suggestions—like dismantling the current deportation agency and wiping criminal penalties off the books for illegal immigration. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, doesn’t it?

In a somewhat desperate attempt to spin the narrative, the Harris campaign is trying to downplay the “border czar” label, insisting that everything has magically improved on her watch. According to one spokesperson, America is now “stronger and safer” thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts. One has to wonder what color the sky is in their reality, considering violent crime is reported to be up significantly and the border continues to resemble a scene from an apocalyptic movie.

As the Vice President’s team continues to tout supposed successes, one can’t help but chuckle at the sheer audacity of the claim. If the Biden administration has made things “better,” one must ask better for whom? Certainly not for the hardworking Americans living in border states. Vance’s trip might just be the wake-up call needed to expose how far removed Harris and her team truly are from the struggles of ordinary Americans grappling with the consequences of unchecked illegal immigration.
