Former immigration judge Matthew O’Brien, speaking at a hearing on the consequences of catch and release at the southern border, dropped a bombshell revelation that will have conservatives shaking their heads in disbelief. O’Brien stated that he “could not substantiate” a single illegal immigrant he ordered to leave the country actually being removed by the Biden administration. Let that sink in for a moment. Every single one of these individuals has been given a free pass to stay in the United States, courtesy of President Biden.

This shocking revelation came to light during a conversation between O’Brien and Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman, who chairs the House Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs. O’Brien explained that in previous administrations it was fairly easy to track the removal of illegal immigrants who had been ordered to leave the country. But under the Biden administration, it seems like these orders are simply being ignored.
It’s not just a matter of bureaucratic inefficiency; it’s a deliberate disregard for the rule of law. O’Brien pointed out that during his tenure as an immigration judge, the Trump administration made a concerted effort to prioritize the removal of individuals involved in serious crimes, ranging from drug trafficking to murder. It wasn’t always easy, especially when countries refused to issue travel documents, but the effort was made nonetheless.
Under President Biden, however, it seems like the effort to remove criminal illegal immigrants has gone out the window. O’Brien bluntly stated, “Under this administration, I don’t think that the effort is even being made.” This is a direct indictment of the Biden administration’s lax approach to immigration enforcement. They are failing in their duty to protect American citizens and to keep our communities safe.
The consequences of this negligence are staggering. Federal data reveals that over 1.7 million illegal border crossings were counted last year, with over 824,000 of those individuals being released into the United States pending court hearings. To put that into perspective, it’s enough people to fill Yankee Stadium over 17 times. Just imagine all those seats taken up by individuals who may have criminal records or who pose a threat to our communities. It’s a sobering reminder of the dangers that open borders and a lack of enforcement can bring.
It’s time for the Biden administration to wake up and take responsibility for their failure to uphold the law. This isn’t a political game or an issue to be brushed aside. Lives are at stake, and every citizen deserves to live in a safe and secure country. It’s time for President Biden to put the well-being of American citizens first and take immediate action to ensure the removal of illegal immigrants who have committed serious crimes. The rule of law must be upheld, and our borders must be secured. Anything less is a disservice to the American people.
