Kamala Harris Campaign Lacks Clear Agenda as She Utilizes Controlled Media Strategy

Vice President Kamala Harris is gearing up to take the stage as the Democrats’ nominee in Chicago, but the details of her agenda remain locked tighter than a piñata at a conservative party. Instead of addressing the nation with a clear platform or a series of press conferences, Harris prefers the cozy confines of teleprompters and handpicked chats with reporters who travel in the plush surroundings of Air Force Two. This secrecy has persisted nearly a month after the Democrats decided to swap out sleepy Joe Biden for their shiny new candidate, but the American public still has more questions than answers about what the Harris-Walz agenda truly entails. It’s becoming all too apparent that this avoidance is intentional.

Harris is employing a campaign strategy that some might call a “Basement-lite” version of Biden’s infamous 2020 run. Instead of rolling out tangible policies or engaging in meaningful discussions, her plan consists of boring, repetitive speeches and an unsettling number of free days that could easily accommodate a friendly sit-down with mainstream media. While many are scratching their heads over her lack of effort to explain her plans to voters, the truth might be more troubling: she simply doesn’t have a clue what she believes, which complicates her ability to feign an ideology that could win over the masses.

This predicament isn’t new territory for the Democrats. Biden himself was touted as a moderate who would work across the aisle to bring America back to some sort of satisfied normalcy. Yet, it quickly devolved into radical policies of all sorts, wars that seemed to materialize out of nowhere, executive orders chewing up the Constitution, and inflation rates that could make any budget-conscious American weep. Harris appears poised to deliver a similar encore—only, she seems to be fumbling even more than her predecessor.

At the crux of the issue is Harris’s seemingly malleable set of principles. With a track record indicating an affinity for far-left policies that have flopped, she finds herself in a precarious situation, especially since her 2020 presidential run didn’t even get her within distance of Iowa. Instead of standing solidly behind any specific ideas, her beliefs morph based on whatever she feels might claw her closer to power. A lack of conviction is glaring in her approach, making her the quintessential political opportunist—dubbed the Kama-Chameleon. She adapts faster than a light bulb changes brightness, promising whatever it takes to capture the electorate’s vote.

The past 25 days remain devoid of any meaningful press interaction for Harris—no pen-and-paper questions, no unscripted dialogues, and certainly none that call out her muddled narrative. The mainstream media has chosen to spin this silence into a narrative of “redefining” herself for the better—an amusing attempt at presenting her flip-flopping as a sign of growth rather than a blatant lack of concrete principles. The truth, however, is alarming; her derailing ideologies are merely reflections of convenience rather than sincere beliefs. Americans are left with a kaleidoscope of Kamala that revolves around progressive ideologies, and none of them have yielded viable or successful outcomes.

The fantastical versions of Kamala—from District Attorney to Senator to Vice President—each professed different beliefs while consistently delivering the same outcome: disastrous progressive policies that could boggle anyone’s mind. Harris now presents herself as the ultimate political shapeshifter just in time for November, shamelessly borrowing Trump’s agenda items like “no tax on tips” in a clumsy attempt at appealing to the middle ground. Unfortunately for her, it might be too late—the public is already wary of her contorted beliefs, and come November, they will want to know what version of the Kama-Chameleon they really have on their hands. Innovative strategies and evolving beliefs are all fine and dandy, but it raises a significant question: when is it time to stop reinventing oneself and start standing firm on actual principles? It looks like voters are left waiting for answers that may never come.
