Kamala Harris Criticized for Low-Profile Campaign and Lack of Policy Transparency

The whispers are becoming shouts in the media world as questions arise about Kamala Harris’s conspicuous absence from the interview circuit and the murkiness of her policy positions. It seems she’s embarked on a stealth campaign, one that could very well give the term “low-profile” a new definition. With her official website offering little in the way of actual policy information, Harris is instead glued to her teleprompter, recycling tired old campaign lines that would put even the most devoted viewer to sleep. It’s not exactly the stuff of inspiring leadership, but maybe that’s the point—keep quiet and hope the mainstream media continues to wield their magic wand of adoration.

In the shadows of this campaign strategy, Harris’s team appears to be banking on the media’s affectionate coverage to carry them through. But as evidenced by the buzz surrounding former President Donald Trump and his appearance on Twitter Spaces, this plan is about as foolproof as a screen door on a submarine. The reality is stark: Harris is not generating the kind of enthusiasm necessary for a winning campaign. The Trump team made sure to spank her publicly after her camp freaked out over his successful chat with Elon Musk. Sound bites and Twitter drama might make for entertaining headlines, but without substance, it’s all smoke and mirrors. If Harris wants to capture the public’s ear, she needs to give them some real content instead of sticking to a script that could have been written in 2020.

Much like a magician who can’t reveal their tricks, the Harris team struggles with transparency—even about the simplest of things, such as the Vice President’s schedule. A recent encounter with CNN’s own John Berman showcased their ineptitude when he inquired about what Harris was up to. The spokesperson, Adrienne Elrod, floundered like a fish out of water, attempting to dodge the question and distract from the fact that Harris had no public engagements lined up. Instead of providing even a glimpse into Harris’s activities, Elrod quickly shifted the focus to an upcoming speech about the economy, an irony not lost on anyone with a basic understanding of the current financial disaster unfolding under Harris’s watch.

One can almost sense the panic behind the scenes. The Vice President may think she can deflect concerns about rising inflation, a crisis she has played a key role in worsening, by recycling Trump-era policies. The idea of removing taxes on tips might as well be a mirage when her actual vision consists of raising taxes on the middle class. All the while, she sets her sights on carrying out future plans instead of addressing the glaring missteps happening right now, while she holds office. It’s a bold move to promise solutions while simultaneously dodging responsibility for the havoc wreaked by her administration.

As Berman continued to press Elrod, the void in Harris’s agenda became even clearer. With seemingly no commitments scheduled for an entire week, excluding a speech on Friday, questions are being raised about who is really in the driver’s seat at the White House. The return of President Biden from his perpetual vacations further casts a shadow over Harris’s effectiveness and priorities.

This isn’t merely a case of playing it safe; it’s an echo of the infamous “basement strategy” that worked so well in 2020. However, as the electorate becomes increasingly savvy, the notion that they can pull the wool over voters’ eyes with a lack of visibility is quickly wearing thin. If Harris thinks she can glide through this election with minimal engagement and a hefty dose of media coddling, she might want to think again.
