Kamala Harris Dodges Media as Democratic Frontrunner, GOP Puzzled

Kamala Harris has managed to pull off a remarkable feat: dodging the media like a champ while ramping up her status as the likely Democratic nominee. It’s been nearly a month since she became the frontrunner and not a peep from her—no news conferences, no interviews. Nothing. Zilch. One can almost hear the crickets chirping in the silence of her media presence while Republican candidates are left scratching their heads over this apparent media blackout.

One can’t help but marvel at the contrast. Even Joe Biden, who has become renowned for his verbal misfires that resemble a bad improv show, managed to squeeze in some interviews after a debacle of a debate with Donald Trump. Biden might have answered questions like a toddler in a candy store—wildly and without any coherent direction—but at least he showed up. Harris, on the other hand, is apparently waiting for a more opportune time to illustrate her political prowess, as if she’s got an open invitation to the red carpet premiere of her own career.

Phil Murphy, the ever-enthusiastic Democratic governor of New Jersey, has come to Harris’s defense, insisting she’s been “extraordinary” and remarking that, no, there’s no rush for her to face the media. His comments come straight from the script of a bad comedy. Sure, there’s plenty of time—perhaps after the inauguration would be a fitting moment for her big reveal? Why rush when she can delay until the political spotlight casts a much softer glow?

Comically, when asked about potential interviews last week, Harris declared she might squeeze one in before September 1st—leaving the stunned observers doing a double-take. One must wonder if her actual schedule involves a lot of high-stakes jigsaw puzzle solving rather than the standard running-for-office routine. She’s not exactly clearing a schedule crammed with emergency management and national crises, so one has to question where the hold-up is.

The backdrop of Biden’s hasty exit from the race only adds more intrigue. He essentially broke up with America over social media, waving a flag of surrender before endorsing Harris. Yet, instead of stepping forward to clarify the situation, she’s opting for a “wait and see” strategy. She owes the public a few answers, especially about the whole “choice” debacle. Yet, she seems determined to ensure that her narrative remains undocumented—as if playing the “avoid unscripted moments” game was her top priority.

It’s laughable to think that Kamala Harris, the self-proclaimed “border czarina,” has become synonymous with classic moments of misinformation. When challenged by Deputy Lester Holt on her border visit claims, her defense hinged on vague assertions that sounded as logical as a cat trying to explain the concept of gravity. Given this history of mixing up facts, it’s clear her reticence to participate in interviews stems from a fear of unscripted reality. With even CNN raising eyebrows at her absence, the question is: how long can she keep this up?
