With the 2024 presidential race heating up, Vice President Kamala Harris recently took to ABC’s “The View” to assert that her leadership would mirror that of President Joe Biden. With Hostin pressing the issue further, she sought clarification on whether Harris would have pursued any alternative actions during Biden’s tenure. The vice president responded with striking ambiguity, admitting she could not think of a single moment where she would have chosen a different path. This statement might be humorously interpreted as the epitome of bipartisanship—when both agree that government spending, soaring inflation, and a lack of border security are all perfectly acceptable outcomes.
Harris enthusiastically touted some initiatives that she believes are her achievements, such as capping insulin prices for seniors and allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices. While these points are often heralded by Democrats as monumental victories, it’s worth noting that Americans are still faced with sky-high costs on many other fronts, including the basic essentials of living. The vaunted job creation in manufacturing that Harris mentioned doesn’t seem to ease the pain felt across households struggling to combat the rising tide of inflation that her administration helped generate.
It’s clear from her outing on “The View” that Kamala Harris is perfectly comfortable continuing down the same road that has led to dissatisfaction among the American public. If she has any unique approaches or bold plans for the future, they remain hidden behind a fog of generalities and reassurances. Those looking for change from the Biden-Harris era might want to keep their expectations in check—after all, it appears the next chapter in democratic leadership may be little more than a retelling of the last one.
