Kamala Harris has once again showcased the Democrats’ knack for choosing questionable allies by selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. This partnership, painted as a strategic move to tighten their grip on the Midwest, may have more in common with a tepid Canadian export than the heartland values they pretend to represent. While Democrats were likely hoping that Walz—who has expressed fervent support for unrestricted abortion and anti-gun initiatives—would balance out Harris’s extreme leftist tendencies with a facade of Midwestern charm, the reality reveals a far less appealing truth.
Almost immediately after Walz’s inclusion in the ticket was announced, his tangled military history began unraveling under scrutiny. Rather than projecting the honor and servant leadership that Americans rightly expect from their veterans, evidence points toward a pattern of opportunism. Reports indicate that his military service isn’t quite as noble as Walz would prefer the public to believe. The truth is becoming clear: Walz’s record might be more about self-promotion than genuine valor.
Walz’s claims around military service have faced backlash, with even mainstream media outlets such as CNN highlighting discrepancies in his assertions. Initially, Walz implied he participated in combat in Iraq; however, sources have since revealed that this portrayal may be more fantasy than fact. A profile by Bloomberg, coinciding with the announcement of his VP candidacy, falsely claimed he served in combat, only to be quietly corrected later. This slip hints at an alarming willingness to manipulate facts for political gain.
In a desperate attempt to deflect scrutiny, the Harris-Walz camp has resorted to attacking the service records of others, notably JD Vance, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. The left’s focus has shifted to characterizing Vance’s role as easy and soft simply because he was assigned to public affairs. This tactic stinks of desperation and cowardice when weighed against the gravity of their own candidate’s muddied military legacy.
Adding to the farce, Walz’s overall commitment to service comes under question with revelations of his reckless driving behavior, which included speeding at 95 miles per hour while intoxicated. These incidents raise eyebrows about the character and judgment of a man who purports to have led others with honor and integrity. Suggesting that his poor choices were simply symptoms of “deafness” only highlights a staggering lack of accountability.

Meanwhile, two dubious defenses have emerged from the Harris campaign. First, they claimed that Walz had to resign from the National Guard to pursue a political career. However, this choice was far from necessary since many National Guard members have successfully juggled service with legislative responsibilities. The second line of defense suggests that Walz was unaware of his battalion’s deployment—a laughable assertion given that this information was public months before his retirement. He cannot cover a blatant abandonment of duty behind an excuse that reeks of incompetence.
It remains evident that attempting to discredit others rather than proactively addressing his own shortcomings only illustrates the left’s aversion to accountability. Americans are known for their resilience, but they also possess a keen sense of fairness and honesty. The duplicity of Tim Walz—and the ensuing facade constructed by Kamala Harris—will unlikely sit well with everyday citizens who recognize the value of integrity in leadership. The Democrats, by aligning themselves with individuals like Walz, only draw further attention to their erosion of real American values.
