Kamala Harris Proposes Outrageous Border Policy Changes

During an episode of NBC's "Meet the Press" that was filmed in Texas and broadcast on September 11, Vice President Kamala Harris discussed the importance of maintaining a secure border with host Chuck Todd. The historically high number of illegal immigrants who sneaked into the United States across the southern border into the previous year was cited by Todd as the basis for his inquiry to Harris, Would you call the border secure?" Todd also asked Harris whether or not the border was secure.

The first thing that Harris said in response was that Todd ought to pass a measure to offer a pathway toward citizenship. However, she qualified her comment by noting, The border is secure, but we still have a dysfunctional immigration system.

At this point in 2022, there have been more illegal immigrants apprehended at the southern border than there were at this same point in 2021, when the United States apprehended a total of 1,734,686 migrants who were processed by the Border Patrol. More than 69 percent of these undocumented immigrants are adults living alone. In comparison, there were 458.088 encounters at the southern border during the final year of the administration of the previous president, Donald Trump.

Todd pressed Harris for an explanation of the amount of confidence she has in the protection of the border.

Harris countered by saying that we do have a secure border because securing the border is a priority for every government, including ours and this administration.

The White House, she declared again, is committed to putting in place a law and a strategy for a pathway to citizenship for the millions of folks who have arrived and are willing to do what is legitimately required to achieve citizenship.

Amnesty initiatives

The Democratic Party has long supported the idea of providing amnesty and, eventually, citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants.

During his campaign for the presidency in 2020, Joe Biden made statements suggesting that he would work with lawmakers to create a clear roadmap for citizenship for around 11 million illegal immigrants.

Green cards for illegal immigrants and citizenship for those who have been in the country for more than five years were among the first policies proposed by the Biden administration. Due to the fact that Republicans would not support such a proposition, the bill did not pass.

Amnesty provisions were among those that Democratic politicians wanted to incorporate in the BBB Act. If these provisions had been enacted, the BBB Act would have offered amnesty to a minimum of 7 million illegal immigrants and work permissions to a much larger number. The bill was approved by the House of Representatives, but it did not move forward in the Senate.

In point of fact, can we say that the border is "secure"?

Mayra Flores, a Republican from Texas, responded to Harris's remarks on "Meet the Press" by saying, Harris has done nothing to aid us in South Texas to defend our borders.  She is of no use.

Doug Ducey, the Republican governor of Arizona, posted the following on his Twitter account on Sunday: Let's call this what it truly is: an Open Border Policy.  When it comes to guarding the border, both Vice President Harris and President Biden are complete idiots.

Security along our borders is definitely NOT at all a priority for the Biden Administration. In a different tweet, Ducey added that the people in question truly have NO IDEA what is occurring at their country's southern border.

Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas) posed the following question: How many were able to escape detection?  Protecting our borders is essential to protecting our nation. Under the administration of Joe Biden, we do not have either. He was speaking in reference to the recent news that more than 66 individuals who were on a terrorist watch list in the United States had been arrested crossing the border illegally.

Border security is an essential component of national security, but the Biden administration has given us none. The number of known terrorists apprehended at the southern border increased to 66 in FY22, which is more than twice as many as were apprehended in the five years prior COMBINED.
