In the troubling tale of unchecked immigration policies, a recent hit-and-run incident in California has shockingly highlighted the glaring failures of President Biden’s border policy. In sunny California, a 14-year-old was tragically killed and another teen injured by a suspect who, despite having been arrested twice for DUI, somehow managed to evade deportation. This situation underscores how lenient approaches in sanctuary jurisdictions can lead to such heartbreaking outcomes. It’s a story that makes one question how many dangerous individuals are allowed to continue walking the streets.
The suspect, whose actions have upended families forever, was previously arrested under the Biden administration. Yet, because these were misdemeanor charges and thanks to California’s sanctuary policies, deportation wasn’t pursued. One would think that multiple DUI offenses would lead to stricter consequences, but here we are, mourning the loss of a young life. It’s situations like these where critics of Biden and his entourages, like Vice President Harris, argue that a lack of serious enforcement is costing lives, and something needs a dramatic change.
Meanwhile, over in South Dakota, Governor Kristi Noem shed light on another chilling area where illegal immigration affects everyday Americans. More than 150 illegal alien truck drivers were recently arrested. These drivers, operating deadly vehicles on American roads, pose a significant risk to public safety. Imagine driving amidst semi-trucks, not knowing if the person behind the wheel has the legal qualifications to be there. It’s both terrifying and infuriating to think that such threats roam freely due to insufficient enforcement at the national level.
What does it take for the administration to start putting American safety first? We’ve seen the brutal outcomes of a porous border time and time again. Individuals with past offenses, when not checked, continue to slip through the cracks, leading to tragic, preventable incidents. Paul Prez, reacting to the situation, suggested that the days when border enforcement was tighter and more efficient under previous administrations could have perhaps avoided such tragedies. One can’t help but wonder if there’s a need to rewind the pages to days when border security rightfully meant the protection of American citizens.

It’s a threatening song to accompany the losses sustained by families who’ve already suffered enough. Until comprehensive actions are implemented to shield American roadways and cities from preventable mishaps caused by repeat offenders, the risk of waking up to more tragic news remains a harsh reality. Isn’t it about time we demanded better protection from those we elect into power? America deserves no less.
