Leavitt Hits Harris for Losing Minority Voters to Trump’s Economic Plans

Karoline Leavitt, the press secretary for the Trump campaign, recently took a shot at Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming she’s clutching at the dwindling support from minority voters who are increasingly drawn to her opponent’s more favorable financial policies. With polls showing that former President Donald Trump is making notable gains among voters in Latino and Black communities—groups that have historically leaned Democratic—there’s a pronounced sense of urgency for Harris as election day approaches.

Leavitt pointed to the comparison between the economic prosperity experienced under Trump’s administration and the current reality under Harris’s watch. With just two weeks to go until the election, the Democratic party is reeling from what Leavitt bluntly described as a “catastrophic collapse.” She emphasized that all voters, particularly Black Americans, have felt the brunt of Harris’s poor economic decisions. Issues like inflation are hitting hard, leaving families scrambling to make ends meet while they watch immigrant communities receive benefits that seem out of reach for many citizens.

The Trump campaign suggests that Harris’s actions—or lack thereof—are alienating key voters. In a not-so-subtle jab, Leavitt outlined how individuals in predominantly Democrat-run cities are often neglected in favor of non-citizens receiving benefits that should be reserved for American families. Citing the juxtaposition of struggling citizens and those getting a “free ride,” she charged that this is not only unfair but also fundamentally un-American. The crux of Trump’s messaging, according to Leavitt, is straightforward: prioritizing all Americans over the special interests often pushed by the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

Critically, Harris has been accused of failing to address numerous pressing issues during her near four-year tenure as vice president. While she may have cast the tiebreaking vote for the American Rescue Plan, critics argue that her inability to devise real solutions for issues like border security and inflation indicates a pattern of neglect. Rather than accept responsibility, Harris appears to prefer pointing fingers at Trump, which is not winning her any supporters.

As for Trump’s final pitch leading up to the election, Leavitt framed it as a stark contrast to Harris’s record of failure. She contended that America was undoubtedly better off under Trump, pointing to his proven track record as an effective leader. Interestingly enough, polling suggests that Harris still commands a substantial majority of Black voters with a 72% approval rating, although this is a significant dip from Biden’s high support of 92% in 2020.

Moreover, recent polling indicates Trump is leading Harris by 11%, with a noticeable increase in support from Latino voters as well. His strategy appears to hinge on addressing issues like border security directly with communities, reminding voters of his governance style while throwing in some humorous jabs at Harris’s intellect. It seems the former president is seizing the opportunity to position himself as the candidate who truly understands and represents the interests of all Americans—not just a select few.
