As observed on a recent show, there’s a comical persistence among the Never Trumpers who cling to their narrative as tightly as they do their mantles of self-righteous indignation. They refuse to acknowledge successes because to do so would unravel the tapestry of grievances they’ve so meticulously woven. It’s ironic and mildly amusing to see them twist themselves into knots, ignoring what others clearly see as effective governing.
There’s chatter about Trump’s recent diplomatic maneuvers, reportedly achieving a semblance of peace in a conflict-laden region faster than some can find the same in American cities. It’s like watching a masterful chess player make his move, and those who cried havoc and predicted global catastrophe instead find themselves outmaneuvered. But here’s the kicker – the detractors, firmly entrenched in their opposition, would rather eat their words than acknowledge a rival’s win. Their strategy seems designed not to interact with reality but rather a fictional saga where they’re the perpetual victims of a political bogeyman.
For years, they painted visions of doom and gloom the moment Trump walked into office – World War III, economic collapse, and societal downfall. Yet, these harbingers of destruction find themselves at a loss as predictions of disaster are replaced by developments they can’t quite digest without industrial-sized portions of crow. They stubbornly overlook any diplomatic headway or domestic accomplishments, which doesn’t go unnoticed by those who value tangible results over perpetual hand-wringing.
The mainstream media, ever eager to maintain its narrative, is no different in refusing to give credit where credit is due. They overlook progress and instead fixate on theoretical failures that haven’t materialized. It’s as if they’re caught in a video loop of incredulity, replaying the same misguided skepticism while blissfully ignoring unfolding realities. By refusing to acknowledge even the smallest victories of their nemesis, they unwittingly serve to highlight their own inability to pivot from their fixed positions. Perhaps it’s time they realized that their unending effusions of disdain are becoming as expected as a firework display on the Fourth of July.
