Americans watched in horror this month as violent attacks targeted conservative leaders and federal law enforcement facilities, proving beyond doubt that political hatred has spilled into murderous action. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, and on September 24 a sniper struck an ICE facility in Dallas, killing and critically wounding detainees in what officials are treating as an ideologically-driven attack.
These are not isolated incidents or mere “rhetoric gone too far” — they are part of a pattern of left-wing radicalism that openly targets anyone who opposes their agenda. The President has already moved to dismantle what his administration calls domestic terrorism networks and has taken the step of labeling Antifa as a domestic terror threat, actions conservatives have long demanded.
If the left’s violence is a real and growing threat to American lives and institutions, then the tools of the presidency must be used without hesitation. We already have precedent for bold, lawful executive action: on January 20, 2025 the President declared a national emergency at the southern border to protect American communities from an invasion of criminals and drugs.
Declaring left-wing violence a national emergency would unlock the resources necessary to safeguard Americans: the deployment of federal forces to protect federal personnel and facilities, the concentrated use of the Justice Department and RICO statutes to dismantle violent networks, and aggressive federal prosecution of those who incite or commit politically motivated attacks. This is not authoritarianism; it is the rightful exercise of authority to preserve order and protect citizens from political terror.
Those on the left and in the media who act shocked now had no trouble cheering when mobs shut down cities, assaulted officers, and intimidated private citizens for years. Their hypocrisy is staggering — and their refusal to confront the violence from within their ranks only proves why stronger federal measures are needed. Hardworking Americans deserve to walk the streets, speak freely, and gather peacefully without fear of being targeted for their beliefs.
President Trump must stop dithering and act like the Commander-in-Chief our country needs in a time of creeping domestic terror. Declare a national emergency on left-wing violence, use every lawful tool to crush these networks, and send the unmistakable message that America will not tolerate political murder and intimidation. Patriots across this nation will stand behind any leader bold enough to defend our people and our freedoms.
