The left’s latest tantrum about President Trump deploying the National Guard in Washington, D.C., hits a new low in political hysteria. Liberal firebrands are shrieking that Trump is using troops to “occupy” the capital and cling to power like a desperate autocrat. Meanwhile, these same Democrats wring their hands over supposed “federalism” and “local control”—but only when those ideas suit their narrative. When cities run by progressive mayors implode into chaos, they suddenly demand an armed occupation to restore order. Pick a side, liberals.
The truth is simple: law and order matter. Crime in major urban centers is surging, thanks to Democrat-approved bail reforms, soft policing, and open borders. When cities like New York, Chicago, and Oakland—under the control of left-wing mayors—descend into disorder, the National Guard is needed to keep the peace. But the usual suspects twist this into a sinister plot, claiming Trump wants to become a dictator by “militarizing” American streets. This reeks of projection. The radical left would do anything to undermine Trump, but the real threat to American freedom comes from lawlessness turning neighborhoods into war zones.

The liberal obsession with shifting attention away from real problems is laughable. Instead of focusing on fixing the economy, rebuilding the energy sector, or standing firm against Putin’s aggression, Democrats demand Trump waste resources on foreign entanglements thousands of miles away—like Gaza—while American cities crumble. This is classic globalist distraction. Their priorities are never America first. They would rather see our streets filled with crime and fear than admit their policies are catastrophic failures. It’s also rich to hear them accuse Trump of “criminalizing the streets” when it’s their soft-on-crime stance that has invited violence.
And let’s be clear: small businesses and hardworking Americans want safety, not excuses. Whether it’s the National Guard patrolling or tough law enforcement cracking down on rioters, citizens deserve protection. The left’s perpetual handwringing over “guardrails” and “occupying forces” ignores the very real costs of anarchy. If anything, Trump’s approach is an overdue wake-up call to irresponsible local leaders who abandoned their duty to keep communities safe. Republicans shouldn’t back down—they should double down on law and order to restore the American dream.
So here’s the question for the left: are you really upset about the National Guard protecting citizens, or are you just angry that Trump is standing firm against your destructive social experiments? If law and order are so bad, why don’t you run for mayor in those cities you claim to champion and fix the mess yourselves? Until then, spare America your hollow outrage and stop pretending the National Guard is some sinister coup force. The real threat is your failure to govern.
