Liberal Cities Decree: $100K is Peanuts, Real America Shakes Head

The liberal elites in cities like Arlington, Virginia, and San Francisco might want everyone to think making $100,000 a year is chump change, but for hardworking Americans living in the real world, that’s a whole lot of money! According to a recent study by GOBankingRates, a yearly income of $100,000 wouldn’t even scrape the surface of the lower middle class in 15 major cities across the United States. It’s like they’re speaking a different language – and it’s not the language of the heartland, that’s for sure.

In Arlington, Virginia, the upper limit for being considered lower middle class is a whopping $152,652. And if you think that’s crazy, just take a look at San Francisco and San Jose in California, where the lower middle class maxes out at $151,877 and $151,122, respectively. These are the kinds of places where a cup of coffee probably costs more than a day’s wage for most hardworking Americans.

Northwestern Mutual financial adviser Rodney Griffin shed some light on this madness, saying that the cost of living in these cities is off the charts. He mentioned housing, transportation, healthcare, education, and “general lifestyle” – whatever that means. But it’s clear that the liberal agenda in these cities is pricing out the salt of the earth Americans who just want a chance at the American dream.

But fear not, because not every city is off the rails like Arlington and San Francisco. In Jersey City, New Jersey, a yearly income of $101,279 would be just enough to squeak out of the lower middle class. And in Chesapeake, Virginia, $100,000 would have you breathing a sigh of relief as you barely make it out of the lower middle class with $103,003. It’s almost like a breath of fresh air, isn’t it?

The study also revealed that other cities where $100,000 a year wouldn’t even crack the lower middle class include liberal havens like Irvine, San Diego, and Oakland in California, as well as Seattle in Washington state, and even our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. It’s no surprise that many of these cities are in California, where liberal policies have run amok, and it seems like the cost of a celery stick probably rivals the cost of a mortgage.

And if you thought things were bad for the hardworking Americans trying to achieve the American dream, just take a look at the housing market. It’s no wonder that existing home sales plummeted to the lowest level since 2010, with increasing mortgage rates keeping potential buyers at bay. It’s like the liberal elites want to keep everyone else out of their exclusive club.

So, as hardworking Americans around the country continue to fight for their shot at the American dream, they’ll have to keep an eye on their wallets and watch out for those liberal elites who think $100,000 is just pocket change. Keep on working, keep on dreaming, and keep on standing up for what’s right!
