It was a scene that left many shaking their heads, questioning whether this was the appropriate moment to push for policies that have shown mixed results in the past. The arguments for gun control are not new; they revolve around the idea that banning assault weapons saves lives. However, history and data suggest a more complicated narrative.
The reality is that tragic events involving guns often propel the gun control debate into the spotlight. Yet, the statistics unleash a different story. More than a few people pointed out that while the pursuit of banning certain firearms seems straightforward, it rarely takes into account the broader context of crime and crime prevention.
