In yet another example of media hysteria and overreaction, a man was taken into custody in Baton Rouge for simply exercising his Second Amendment rights. There was no active shooter situation, just a concerned citizen with a legally owned long gun. And yet, in typical fashion, panic ensued. The fact that he was searching for the Louisiana Attorney General and was fully cooperative seems to elude the liberals who instantly sound the alarm, crying wolf and spreading fear without checking the facts.
Let’s take a moment to discuss gun rights. A man lawfully possessing a firearm should not be treated like a criminal. Americans have the right to bear arms, a right worth defending fiercely. However, one can bet that the left will use this incident to push their gun control agenda, trying to paint every gun owner as a potential threat instead of addressing real issues like mental health and public safety policy.

The more shocking part of this incident was the public reaction. Blinded by fear and misinformation, people were quick to latch onto the idea of an active shooter. Liberals and their mainstream media allies propagate these fears as it fits their narrative. They would rather report a looming disaster than acknowledge that the situation was under control from the start. The Attorney General herself confirmed there was no grave threat, but that doesn’t fit the fearmongering script.
The man was released without charges and cooperated with authorities. Now, where’s the coverage on that? Where’s the apology to the public for the overblown drama? It’s possibly another distraction to draw attention away from the failures of left-leaning bureaucrats who cannot control crime in their own cities. Instead, they focus on law-abiding gun owners. It’s time to redirect efforts to tackle real criminals committing real crimes.
This incident perfectly illustrates the struggle against liberal misinformation. When will America wake up to this never-ending cycle of fear? Will they realize that our constitutional rights are not negotiable items in the game of political chess? It’s time to demand better — not just from our leaders, but from the media that fails to hold them accountable.
