Former Representative Liz Cheney, who has made quite the name for herself as a self-appointed Trump antagonist, has taken a surprising turn by endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 election. This endorsement was delivered during a lecture at Duke University, where Cheney expressed her concerns about Trump, claiming he poses a danger that is too significant to overlook. The irony of a Republican endorsing a vice president who embodies the complete opposite of conservative values is rich enough to fill a senior citizen center’s bingo hall.
Cheney wasted no time in making her views crystal clear. She articulated, or perhaps misarticulated, her belief that constituents have no business writing in candidates during pivotal swing states. It’s as if she believes voters should either support Harris or risk chaos with Trump, while conveniently disregarding the third option: not supporting an outright radical who dreams of a Portland-style utopia taking root across America. One must wonder how a champion of constitutional conservatism can wear the endorsement of a far-left ideologue without some serious mental gymnastics.

Interestingly, Cheney had previously warned that Harris aimed to reshape America based on the riots and chaos witnessed in places like Portland and Seattle. It appears that Cheney has not only done a 180 on her previous warnings about Harris but has embraced the radical liberal agenda with open arms. The juxtaposition is almost comical: Cheney, once a staunch defender of conservative principles, now finds herself cozying up to one of the most progressive figures in modern politics. If one were to poll the average Republican voter, it’s doubtful they would view this as a move worthy of applause.
It’s important to highlight that Cheney’s political career isn’t just marked by her opposition to Trump; she famously lost her primary fight in Wyoming in 2022 to Harriet Hageman, a candidate backed by Trump himself. Following her defeat, her declaration that the “real work begins” hinted at her intent to be the scourge of Trump’s political aspirations moving forward. It’s a curious game she’s playing—endorsing the Vice President while simultaneously attempting to pursue a vendetta against the former president. The old adage about cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face comes to mind.
As Cheney throws in her lot with the Harris campaign, conservative America rolls its collective eyes in disbelief. Does she really think her endorsement will amount to anything more than a footnote in political history? As she rallies behind a politician who wants to raise taxes, limit Second Amendment rights, and expand the federal government’s reach, it becomes clear that Cheney’s brand of conservatism is a relic of the past—an archetype acceptable only to RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) who have lost their way. Most conservative Americans remain steadfast in their commitment to the principles that Cheney once championed, leaving her endorsement of the far-left Harris well outside the bounds of acceptable political sentiment.
