In a world where truth is supposed to prevail, the mainstream media has consistently shown an uncanny ability to pick and choose their realities, especially when it comes to political narratives. The latest scandal involves none other than the infamous Trump-Russia collusion theory. For years, the media latched onto this theory, sinking their teeth into it as gleefully as a terrier shakes a rat. But now, newly declassified documents, courtesy of Tulsi Gabbard and the Director of National Intelligence, have debunked this entire ordeal as a grandiose fabrication—a three-year drama that wasted resources and distracted from more pressing matters.
This outrageous tale was nothing more than an elaborate political hit job, dreamed up by desperate Democrats and their cronies who couldn’t accept the results of the 2016 election. It’s almost as though someone needed to provide some creative writing lessons, because claiming Trump was involved in dubious activities at a Moscow hotel with, shall we say, unusual company, sounds like the plot of a poorly thought-out thriller rather than reality. Despite these absurdities, the media, dripping with disdain for Trump, eagerly parroted these illusions as fact, utterly bypassing any pretense of journalistic integrity.
Now, you may wonder, where are the apologies? The retractions? The promises to strive for a smidgeon more honesty in reporting? Crickets. That’s the sound as the once “respected” media outlets attempt to sidestep their catastrophic missteps. After tempting the public with the same old sensationalist stories day in and day out, you’d think they’d at least acknowledge their role in spreading such a monumental calumny. But no, instead they stampede on to their next target, leaving truth to kick the dust behind them.
Not only did this far-fetched narrative unravel, but it also exposed a media so entrenched in its own biases that they might as well have worn team jerseys. And yet, who could truly be surprised? With outlets regularly insisting that the U.S. border is secure, or showcasing Joe Biden’s cognitive prowess with vigor that rivals a cheerleading squad, skepticism should be the order of the day. The reality is now clearer than ever: here lies yet another reason why so many Americans no longer place their trust in these so-called gatekeepers of truth.
In the end, the only thing the media spectacularly accomplished was to further erode their already dwindling credibility. This side show of mendacity, wrapped with a bright bow of dishonesty, only reinforces the notion that these outlets are less about news and more about political ideology. They appear to have traded truth for narrative and doubled down on their mistakes for accountability. It’s little wonder that shifting public opinion has them careening towards irrelevance like a runaway train. Perhaps it’s time they take a long look in the mirror before chiding others about misinformation. After all, the ending to their act doesn’t have to be a farce. But, given recent history, it likely will be.
