ICE just busted a massive marriage fraud ring. Crooks were paying American citizens to marry foreigners so they could sneak into our country. These fraudsters are now facing justice thanks to ICE and USCIS working together.
Ten people got arrested in this nationwide scam. Shawnta Hopper from New Jersey was recruiting women to marry immigrants for cash. She’s one of the ringleaders who thought she could cheat our immigration system.
USCIS spokesperson Matthew Tragesser said it plain: “Some marriages are made in heaven. Some are just made up.” He’s right. These fake marriages are a slap in the face to hardworking Americans who follow the rules.
Meanwhile, an Anchorage man got detained by ICE after entering America illegally from Peru. Cristian Ibanez Velasquez crossed the border in 2022 and married an American woman but never applied for citizenship. Now he’s paying the price for breaking our laws.
His wife claims she’s “in the dark” about his detention. But the facts are clear: He came here illegally and ignored the legal process. That’s not how America works. We’re a nation of laws, not loopholes.
Liberals are painting ICE as the villains in cases like these. They cry about families being torn apart. But they forget about the real victims: American citizens whose safety gets threatened when criminals game our immigration system.
ICE is doing its job protecting our borders. Operations like the marriage fraud takedown show they’re serious about stopping cheats and liars. Anyone who enters illegally or scams the system deserves to be held accountable.
This is about safeguarding America. We can’t let fraudsters steal spots from honest immigrants waiting in line. ICE’s work keeps our country strong and our borders secure. That’s something every patriot should support.
