She suggested that if Trump was going to start investigating the citizenship of everyone born in this country to undocumented parents, he should first take a closer look at his own wife. It seems Maxine has a sum of ignorance that cannot be understated, not realizing that Melania Trump became a naturalized citizen in a completely legal manner, unlike the scenarios she seems to conjure from thin air. Truly, it’s baffling. Melania, originally from Slovenia, moved to the United States in 1996, married Trump in 2005, and became a naturalized citizen shortly after. Unlike many who flout immigration laws, her path to citizenship was respectable and in compliance with U.S. regulations. To suggest deporting her is not only ludicrous; it’s an affront to understanding the legal immigration process—a process Melania has spoken candidly about, detailing her own trials and frustrations with red tape.
To top it all off, Waters’ comments did not fly under the radar.
