At a time when the safety of the American people hangs in the balance, the leaders of key government departments have chosen to go AWOL. Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and FBI Director Christopher Wray were supposed to testify on Capitol Hill about the various threats facing the nation. Instead, both officials decided to skip the crucial hearing, leaving many senators and constituents scratching their heads in disbelief. It’s an unusual move, considering that such absences haven’t happened in nearly 15 years.
Senator Gary Peters, a Democrat, didn’t mince words when discussing the implications of this no-show. He stressed that the American public deserves transparency from those tasked with protecting them. The lack of accountability from Mayorkas and Wray will inevitably fuel doubts about the government’s commitment to national security.
