On Wednesday night, MSNBC’s “11th Hour” hosted by NBC Senior Business Analyst Stephanie Ruhle claimed that rising gas prices weren’t President Biden’s fault, but instead blamed Russia and Saudi Arabia for cutting oil production. Ruhle also suggested that former President Trump could benefit from higher gas prices as a 2024 presidential candidate.

Ruhle pointed out that while Biden is receiving the blame for inflation, low gas prices have been a saving grace. However, she highlighted a “steady, quiet” increase in gas prices, which she attributed partly to the typical summer spike in demand. She also noted deliberate factors, alleging that Russia and Saudi Arabia’s oil production cuts are driving up prices.
Additionally, Ruhle implied that higher gas prices could work in favor of Donald Trump, insinuating that Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Trump are aligned in wanting increased prices. She asserted that the blame for rising gas prices should not fall on President Biden, highlighting the record-high oil production in the United States and insinuating that some foreign oil producers may support Trump’s interests.
Overall, Ruhle’s segment on MSNBC painted a picture of outside forces manipulating gas prices to the potential advantage of former President Trump, while absolving President Biden of responsibility for the price hikes.
