Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been invited to address Congress on June 13, as confirmed by sources such as The Hill and POLITICO. This will be his fourth address, making him the foreign leader with the most addresses to Congress. However, some far-left Democrats have expressed disapproval of this invitation, with Senator Bernie Sanders raising concerns about the International Criminal Court’s seeking of arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other Israeli officials.
It is anticipated that far-left members, including the anti-Israel Squad, may choose to boycott the address and voice their displeasure. Notably, during Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s previous address to Congress, Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush boycotted the speech and condemned Israel as an “apartheid state.”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden recently announced a ceasefire plan between Israel and Hamas following a terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel. However, there are discrepancies between Biden’s description of the plan and Israel’s stance. A senior Israeli official has disputed Biden’s portrayal of the ceasefire offer, emphasizing that Israel will only agree to a permanent ceasefire after meeting its objectives, which include addressing Hamas’ military and governing capabilities.
The official also clarified that reports of Israel agreeing to a ceasefire without its conditions being met are incorrect. Israel is resolute in ensuring that its conditions are fulfilled before agreeing to a permanent ceasefire. These conditions are integral to Israel’s security and will not be compromised.
