Newsom Schools JD Vance: Know Your Senators by Name

In sunny California, where the hillsides are lined with pristine vineyards and not-so-secret mansions, Governor Gavin Newsom is starting to warm up to the idea of running for president in 2028. Surrounded by the cultured walls of the Japanese-American Museum, he was quite the picture of ambition as he began his speech at the so-called “Democracy Center” in Los Angeles. One couldn’t help but notice as he aimed his speeches and smirks directly at the ever-popular Donald Trump, who looms large in both the past and present political arena.

Newsom stood confidently in one of the most diverse patches of geography, shamelessly presenting it as the melting pot of America, where dreams supposedly flourish and cultures come together like a perfectly composed salad. Except, rather than addressing the lingering issues Californians face, he was all about celebrating diversity, glossing over the gritty reality of unaffordable living costs and rampant homelessness that his leadership continues to ignore. But hey, let’s not spoil the feel-good narrative with pesky details.

In a dramatic twist that could rival a poorly written Hollywood script, Newsom used his platform to criticize an ongoing ICE operation happening nearby. He wasted no time accusing Trump, his favorite antagonist, of orchestrating some covert operation to harass immigrants at the very moment he took the stage. Strangely, he didn’t mention the fact that ICE agents have the vital, and often thankless, job of maintaining order in a chaotic immigration system. Who cares about border security when you’ve got an audience to entertain?

The governor went on to paint a vivid picture of a poor, unfortunate disabled boy supposedly at the mercy of ICE agents, complete with a gun-to-head scenario. Without missing a beat, Newsom highlighted the fear and anxiety he claims are rampant due to ICE’s presence. But in reality, most law-abiding citizens know that ICE’s operations are carefully planned and executed. Unlike the wishful thinking in Newsom’s speeches, their actions are not arbitrary or capricious.

Governor Newsom’s speech serves as a colorful preview of the talking points we can expect to hear as the midterms approach. His passionate diatribes against Trump and the federal immigration enforcement efforts might rally a crowd, but they fail to address the core issues Californians face daily. As he plans his next move on the political chessboard, one can only hope he will stop attacking those who work to uphold the nation’s laws and start addressing the state’s own smorgasbord of challenges.
