It’s a significant milestone that should have many feeling optimistic about the future, or at least curious about what lies ahead.
Almost unusually, this election season has unfolded in an air of tranquility. Gone are the images of protests, riots, and bedlam that some have come to expect during politically charged moments. Instead, most Americans appear to be taking a collective breath, as if they are all sitting in a very real and polite waiting room, ready for the next chapter to commence. Many are wondering: has a sense of decorum finally returned? Unlike the riots that erupted during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, this time, there seems to be an agreed-upon commitment to civility, perhaps because many on the left have quietly conceded that they backed the wrong horse this time around.
